The MEC Apprenticeship Programme is open to unemployed young persons between the ages of 18 to 29 who have been registered at the Youth Employment Services. It aims to help the Territory’s youth find employment through collaboration with the public and private sectors.

Phase V includes the extension and expansion of the BVIEC's facility by adding two new WARTSILA generators, a new central control room, and transmission cables between Pockwood Pond and Long Bush. This phase commenced on March 23 with the turning of the soil at the Pockwood Pond Power Station.

The sport of horse racing has been a part of the fabric of this community for many years. We have seen it grow from horses racing on unprepared grounds to what we have today at the Ellis Thomas Downs. There is no doubt that it has become a part of our culture.

Local Attorney at law, Ms. Fiona Forbes, has been appointed to the post of Chairman of the Police Service Commission, while, Barrister and former law enforcement officer, Mr. Kendell Mills, was appointed a member of the Police Service Commission effective August 6.

This year’s event is scheduled from September 7 to September 11, and again from September 21 to September 25. It will be followed by an awards ceremony for participants on Sunday, September 27, to be held under the patronage of Premier and Minister of Finance, Dr. the Honourable D. Orlando Smith, OBE.

My heart has been heavy with a great sadness since yesterday morning when my wife, Lorna woke me up with the news that Mr. Ali had passed. But today we thank God for Mr. Ali's wisdom that he shared with so many of us, for his generosity, for his vision, for his passion and for his compassion. We thank God that Mr. Ali came to live amongst us some fifty years ago and helped to make our beloved British Virgin Islands a better place.
