An oral tradition was reenacted today with a Salt Breaking and Gifting Ceremony held as the first official event to celebrate the 90^th Birthday of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

The Government of the Virgin Islands will host a Salt Breaking and Gifting Ceremony, to commemorate Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s 90^th Birthday Celebrations.

Good afternoon.
The 90th birthday celebration of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II is indeed an important occasion for the Territory as it marks an important milestone in her life as the sovereign. 

Let us now stand to pledge ourselves afresh to uphold and serve the values and fellowship of the Commonwealth.

Wherever we live in the Commonwealth, we can always benefit from being open to the ideas and encouragement of those around us. Each of us can also make a positive difference in the lives of others by being willing to contribute and offer support.

A grand parade and two ceremonies will highlight the 90^th Birthday of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II which will be observed in the Territory on Thursday, April 21.   

As a follow up to meetings in London in December of last year’s Joint Ministerial Council, and in response to an invitation from Premier and Minister of Finance, Dr. the Honourable D. Orlando Smith, OBE, senior representatives from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, particularly the National Crime Agency (NCA) and Serious Fraud Office (SFO) visited the Territory from February 25 to 26 to engage in further technical discussions on strengthening the legal framework for cooperation to tackle cross-border financial crime in both jurisdictions.

The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Implementation Agency for Crime and Security is inviting applications from suitably qualified CARICOM nationals to fill the posts of Project Coordinator and Project Assistant for the 10^th European Development Fund Project.

The Governor’s Office is seeking volunteers to serve on any of the following committees: The Advisory Committee on the Prerogative of Mercy, the Honours Committee and the Visiting Ships Committee.
