The Cabinet of the Virgin Islands has approved the appointment and re-appointment of the Chairman and members of the Financial Services Appeal Board in accordance with Section 3 of the Financial Services Appeal Board Act, 2016.

Today the United Kingdom Government (UKG) has published the draft Overseas Territories (Publicly Accessible Registers of Beneficial Ownership of Companies) Order (Draft Order) and accompanying explanatory note.

The Government of the Virgin will be introducing Bills to support the comprehensive digital transformation of the Public Service and improve e-payments for customers.

Today, I join with the BVI Community in congratulating Dr. Robert Mathavious, LLD on receiving the Order of the British Empire (OBE) recognition from Her Majesty the Queen Elizabeth II for his unwavering services to the British Virgin Islands.

Dr Robert Mathavious is the Territory’s newest recipient of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the Queen’s 2020 Birthday Honours for his contributions to financial services.

Mr. Speaker, I wish to update this Honourable House on certain developments as regards to publicly accessible registers of beneficial ownership.

Premier and Minister of Finance of the British Virgin Islands (BVI), Honourable Andrew A. Fahie, has reiterated the support of the Territory’s Government for working with the United Kingdom Government (UKG) towards implementation of a publicly accessible register of beneficial ownership for companies, “in line with international standards and best practices as they develop globally,” with certain reservations.

Mr. Speaker, I will now make a statement on the British Virgin Islands’ (BVI) Beneficial Ownership Secure Search System (BOSSs).

Mr. Speaker, I will now update this Honourable House on the BVI Financial Services Sector, moving forward together.

The Beneficial Ownership Secure Search system (BOSSs) continues to place the Virgin Islands on the cutting edge of beneficial ownership information exchange with the capability of responding to requests in real time.
