This morning, I wish to provide another bi-monthly update on the work that your Government continues to do to deliver transparent and accountable Governance by providing information to the public and answering questions from the media; strengthen the resilience of these islands; and to improve the quality of life for all our citizens.
The British Virgin Islands’ (BVI’s) financial services sector has continued to see strong growth in the first half of 2021, with a 68% increase in company incorporations and almost a three-fold (269%) increase in the registration of limited partnerships (LPs).
The Cabinet of the Virgin Islands has approved the appointment and re-appointment of the Chairman and members of the Financial Services Appeal Board in accordance with Section 3 of the Financial Services Appeal Board Act, 2016.
Today the United Kingdom Government (UKG) has published the draft Overseas Territories (Publicly Accessible Registers of Beneficial Ownership of Companies) Order (Draft Order) and accompanying explanatory note.
The Government of the Virgin will be introducing Bills to support the comprehensive digital transformation of the Public Service and improve e-payments for customers.

Today, I join with the BVI Community in congratulating Dr. Robert Mathavious, LLD on receiving the Order of the British Empire (OBE) recognition from Her Majesty the Queen Elizabeth II for his unwavering services to the British Virgin Islands.

Dr Robert Mathavious is the Territory’s newest recipient of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the Queen’s 2020 Birthday Honours for his contributions to financial services.
