The Government of the Virgin Islands is seeking three (3) qualified persons to fill the following: 

Member of the Financial Services Complaints Tribunal

Job Summary: A Member of the Financial Services Complaints Tribunal (the “Tribunal”) is responsible for participating in the activities of the Tribunal as it relates to the investigation of reports, mediating between complainants and licensees subject to regulatory oversight of the Financial Services Commission (FSC), advising complainants of their options, and ensuring that these licensees carry out their business in a just and fair manner in relation to its clients or customers.

Requirements:

Persons meeting the following requirements are encouraged to apply.

1) Ability to meet eligibility requirements for FSC’s fit and proper assessment in accordance with Schedule 1A of the Regulatory Code;

2) Have at least seven (7) years post qualification experience in their respective fields of professional expertise;

3) Are capable of exercising sound and fair judgement;

4) Are not a member of the House of Assembly; and

5) Have not been certified medically unsound.

NOTE:

Applicants must reside in the British Virgin Islands.

Primary Functions include, but are not limited to:

  1. Receiving and investigating reports from persons who are aggrieved by a decision of a licensee with respect to any claim they have lodged or filed with the licensee or any matter with respect to transactions that affect or relate to a client or customer of the licensee;
  2. Mediating between a complainant and a licensee with the objective of enabling an amicable settlement between the complainant and the licensee;
  3. Advising a complainant of their options in the event that the complainant and the licensee are unable to reach an amicable settlement; and
  4. Ensuring that a licensee carries out its business justly and fairly in the relation to its clients or customers so that they are not taken advantage of.
