Greetings fellow Virgin Islanders. As we approach another hurricane season, it is crucial that we remain vigilant and prepared. This year's Atlantic Hurricane Season is already proving to be an active one, as evidenced by the flash floods experienced in early May. These events have served as a wake-up call, alerting us to the areas that require immediate attention to mitigate flooding during inclement weather.
The Public Works Department is advising motorists who would usually park at the Mangrove Bypass Parking lot, in the vicinity of the open space behind Infinite Solutions and the House of Assembly Offices, ‘Jayla Place’, that the area is temporarily blocked today, Wednesday, May 22.
The public is notified that a portion of Lloyd Drive in the area behind the Ralph T. O’Neal Administration Complex is closed from 5:00 p.m. on Monday, May 20 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, May 27.

The public and motorist are advised that a portion of Blackburn Highway in the vicinity of the Fine Foods Supermarket to the East End Police Station will be temporarily interrupted on Wednesday, May 15 to Saturday, May 18 from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. daily.
Due to severe flooding and erosion, the roadway between North Sound and Valley on the island of Virgin Gorda is currently in a hazardous condition. The public and motorists are advised to avoid this area until further notice.

The Ministry of Communications and Works is fully aware of the unexpected and severe flooding that has occurred across the Virgin Islands territory today. Heavy rainfall has led to widespread flash flooding in various parts of the islands, causing significant disruptions to traffic and infrastructure, as well as impacting homes and businesses.
The public is advised that a portion of James Walter Francis Drive in the vicinity of Port Purcell to the Sugar Works Museum on Station Avenue will be temporarily interrupted on Saturday, May 4 from 7:00 p.m. to Sunday, May 5 at 2:00 a.m.
The public is notified that traffic along the Great Mountain Road, within the vicinity of Shabazz Smoothie, will be interrupted on May 4 and 5, 2024 between the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The public is notified that traffic along the western end of Cane Garden Bay will be interrupted on April 23 and 24 between 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. daily for road maintenance works.
