The Government is partnering with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to assist Micro, Small and Medium sized Enterprises (MSMEs) in the food services sector including restaurants, cafés and food vans.
The public is advised to purchase all foods from safe sources this holiday season. Inspect foods for safe temperature, colour, odour, texture and packaging. Also, arrange for foods to be delivered at times when they can be inspected.
British Virgin Islands Environmental Health Division officials are advising consumers not to eat romaine lettuce or products containing romaine lettuce from Salinas, California USA.
A total of 596 food handlers’ certificates have been issued so far this year, as the Environmental Health Division continues to assist food businesses in achieving required food safety standards.
