Madam Speaker, I rise to provide this Honourable House with an update on the status of the Government’s ongoing efforts to manage and mitigate the issue of derelict vehicles across the Territory.
The Ministry of Health and Social Development has signed a contract for the processing and transportation of derelict vehicles from the temporary derelict vehicle site in Havers.
Director of Waste Management, Mr. Marcus Solomon said efforts are actively underway to remove all derelict vehicles from the Virgin Islands and also identify a long-term side for storage.
The Department of Waste Management is soliciting competitive sealed bids for the maintenance of DWM’, Derelict Site, processing and export of a maximum of 600 Derelict Vehicles and agreed Scrap Metal.
Director of Waste Management, Mr. Marcus Solomon is reminding the public to use the Derelict Removal Information System to track vehicles that have been tagged or removed.
The Government of the Virgin Islands (GOVI) acting through the Ministry of Finance (MOF) is accepting sealed bids for the sale of the following derelict vehicles and boats on "AS IS” basis. (See Appendix 1)
