The Ministry of Financial Services, Labour and Trade has several new initiatives in the pipeline to empower micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in the Virgin Islands.

The Ministry of Financial Services, Labour and Trade has received the report of the ad hoc Minimum Wage Advisory Committee.

The public is notified that the cashier operations at the Department of Trade, Investment and Consumer Affairs will be closed at 2:00 p.m. today April 25 to facilitate a staff meeting. 

Deputy Premier and Minister for Financial Services, Labour, and Trade, Honourable Lorna Smith, OBE today delivered the keynote address at the special 20^th anniversary meeting and conference of ICC FraudNet, highlighting the strong position the Virgin Islands Government takes in relation in the deterrence of fraud and the fight against financial crime.

The public is advised that the Department of Trade Investment Promotion and Consumer Affairs will be closed at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January, 31.

The public is notified that the Department of Trade, Investment Promotion and Consumer Affairs, will be processing renewal of trade licences for the 2024 season effective November 15, 2023.

Madam Speaker, with your permission I would like to present a bill seeking the suspension of the Virgin Islands Trade Commission Act, 2020. This Act, passed on 8 June 2020, aimed to establish the Virgin Islands Trade Commission, and vest it with critical responsibilities related to business, trade, investment, and consumer affairs within our jurisdiction. The Act came into effect on 21 November 2022, through Statutory Instrument S.I. 103 of 2022.

The public is reminded that unauthorised vending is strictly prohibited, particularly in the Road Town area.
