As I speak, our top level BVI athletes are in Doha, Qatar, to compete in the 2019 International Association of Athletic Federation’s World Championships.  Our athletes are having a stellar athletic season, and we send them all our support as they again GO FOR THE GOLD!

Minister for Health and Social Development Honourable Calvin Malone has signed an agreement with Sport for Life Society for the development of a physical literacy approach in pre-schools across the Territory.

Mr. Speaker, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Youth Affairs, Sports, Agriculture and Fisheries, is at the threshold of reopening a number of schools that were under construction since the 2017 hurricanes.

Residents in Virgin Gorda will once again have a functional sporting facility to host basketball and other recreational sports.

Minister for Education, Culture, Youth Affairs, Fisheries and Agriculture, Dr. the Honourable Natalio Wheatley has said that the Government of the Virgin Islands will be making a serious commitment to sports development as it is an investment that has given very good returns.

The public is notified of a motorcade and recognition ceremony to be held on Friday, April 26 to welcome home and honour Gold medalist Jaleel Croal and the team of athletes who represented the BVI at the 2019 CARIFTA Games.

The British Virgin Islands Tourist Board (BVITB) in partnership with the prestigious U.S. based sports institution IMG Academy, is accepting applications for three aspiring BVI athletes to attend a “Week Youth Core Sport Camp”. Several of the professional tennis players who played at the 2018 Miami Open, are alumni of IMG Academy.

Athletes from the Primary School divisions throughout the Territory compete in Inter Primary School Sports Division B and A sports day events on March 13 and 14 at the A.O. Shirley Recreation Grounds.
