The Ministry of Communications and Works is notifying the public of the following road closures will take place on Saturday April 25 and Sunday April 26 from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Drainage works at Parham Town under the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) contract is 100 percent complete. Additional works are continuing to support the existing drainage system in ensuring that it functions at maximum capacity.

Road works in Palestina Estate/Pleasant Valley are 95 percent complete. Completed works per contract included raising the concrete bridge abutments and construction of a new bridge deck at a higher elevation. A new culvert was also constructed along the Palestina road and a section of the Drakes Highway back to the existing sea outfall near Nanny Cay.

The Ministry of Communications and Works continues to carry out its mandate of ensuring the safety of the motoring and pedestrian public and improving the quality of the Territory’s roads and has commenced road works on Virgin Gorda.

Residents of Anegada are expected to benefit from road works underway on the Sister Island as Government continues its work of improving the road infrastructure of the Virgin Islands.

I am pleased to welcome you here today, as we sign a Loan Agreement between the Government of the Virgin Islands and the BVI Social Security Board, for $16 million, to facilitate the development of the road network infrastructure throughout the Territory.

Continued upgrades to the Territory’s road networks are underway following a signing ceremony held today, April 16,  between the Government of the Virgin Islands and the Social Security Board for a loan agreement of $16 million.

The Ministry of Communications and Works is informing the public that the road in East End from Fat Hog’s Bay in the vicinity of the Youth Empowerment Programme (Y.E.P) centre to the Police Station in Long Swamp is currently closed to the public. 

The road will reopen at 4:30 p.m. and closed 6:30 p.m. until 7:00 a.m. the following day (Thursday, April 16).

Motorists are asked to take alternative routes to access areas.

The Ministry apologises for any inconvenience that may be caused during this time.
