The Ministry of Communications and Works in collaboration with the Public Works Department is reminding motorists of upcoming road works in the Territory.

Acting Assistant Secretary for the Ministry of Communications and Works, Mrs. Margret Jones-Greene said that it is important for the community to keep abreast of the upcoming road works and resulting closures by listening and tuning in to the different media channels.

Mrs. Jones-Greene added, “The Ministry will be carrying out a lot of infrastructural work in the coming months and we want to make sure that everyone is aware of these works to alleviate traffic congestion during peak hours.”

Motorists are also asked to take the suggested alternate routes in to and out of town and to refrain from parking on sidewalks.

The following are upcoming road works:

  • Road works will commence in Spring Ghut Wednesday, June 1 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • Road works are expected to commence in Butu Mountain in the week of June 6. 
  • Road works will continue in Cooten Bay and are expected to last for three more weeks.
  • Road works continue in Brewer’s Bay and Sea Cows Bay.

Motorists are being asked to drive with extreme caution and to follow road signs in these areas.

Infrastructural work continues in Pockwood Pond for the Phase V Power Development Programme. Cable trenching from the Pockwood Pond power station to the Long Bush power station has concluded.
