Commissioner of Customs Mr. Wade Smith said the pieces of equipment detained in the operation by the department’s special units, appear to be in contravention of the Customs Management and Duties Act No. 6 of 2010.

Assistant Commissioner for Enforcement, Mr. Clinton Romney said Her Majesty’s Customs’ K-9 Unit and Mobile Task Force Unit intercepted a quantity of plant matter that appeared to be marijuana.

The Government of the Virgin Islands is reminding customs brokers, agents and traders that Her Majesty’s Customs is moving towards full automation of its Cargo Declaration system with the introduction of its automated Web Trader Programme on May 4.     

H.M. Customs Department and BVI Ports Authority would like to inform the public that the auction planned for April 17th, 2015 has been postponed until April 18th, 2015.

Importers of unclaimed goods left for more than two months at Her Majesty’s Customs and the BVI Ports Authority are advised that these items must be cleared by Friday April 10 to avoid having them sold at public auction.

All manual procedures to clear goods at her Majesty’s Customs will now be computerised, as the department moves towards full automation of its Cargo Declaration system with the introduction of its Web Trader Programme.

Her Majesty’s Customs is informing all couriers that the new clearance procedure deadline has been extended to Tuesday, March 31.
