Press Release
Minister for Transportation, Works and Utilities, Honourable Kye M. Rymer and a team of officials visited the area of a disrupted sewerage line at Pasea which caused a backup in traffic to Road Town earlier today.
The team was given an update on the works that were done at the site by Senior Engineer responsible for Sewerage Operations and Development with the Water and Sewerage Department, Mr. Von Alphonso.
Mr. Alphonso said, “The team and I dug up the road to find the line that collects sewerage from the Baugher’s Bay and Purcell Estate to the main in Road Town for repairs. After repairing the line, we were unsuccessful in refilling the hole due to inclement weather.”
Mr. Alphonso added that with the assistance of the workers at the Public Works Department and favorable weather, the compromised area will be properly compacted.
Meanwhile Honourable Rymer has given the assurance that his ministry is working quickly to rectify the issue. “The Director of Public Works will address the road repairs, and the Director of Water and Sewerage and her team to address the issue. I therefore ask the public for its patience as works to address the sewerage leak continue. The Government is indeed working to do its part in bringing relief to citizens and improve their quality of life.”
Motorists and pedestrians are asked to adhere to the traffic lights and signs placed for safety as these works continue. Remember, DRIVE CAREFULLY. RIDE CAREFULLY. BE SAFE. BUCKLE UP!
