The Virgin Islands Youth Parliament which seeks to create leadership skills and competencies in the Territory’s youth will be officially launched on September 30.
Students are required to write on ways to make young people more aware and educated about the financial services industry, the role the industry plays in supporting the standards of living in the British Virgin Islands and the opportunities it offers young people for the future.
Youth in the Territory are invited to participate in an essay competition and share their views on the future of the financial services industry and the role of young people in preparing to advance this sector.
Twenty-five young people from the across the region recently participated in the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association’s (CPA) annual Regional Youth Parliament at the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College.

I have had the pleasure of working on a number of initiatives in education and youth development - from youth employment, the development of our youth policy, the opening of a true technical secondary school, even the launch of our illustrious Territorial song and wear. But graduands, there is one item that keeps evading me but I will work diligently to realise this before my second term in office ends - how can we get this graduation to last just 90 minutes.
