The three recipients for the 2017 BVI Badge of Honour received their awards at an investiture ceremony held on March 2.

His Excellency the Governor, John S. Duncan, OBE after consultation with the Premier, Dr. the Honourable D. Orlando Smith, OBE and the then Leader of the Opposition, Honourable Julian Fraser, RA has accepted the recommendation of the BVI Honours Committee and is pleased to announce that the following persons will be awarded the BVI Badge of Honour:

I am holding this press briefing to provide you with an update on my recent meetings in London where, among other things, I attended the United Kingdom–Overseas Territories Joint Ministerial Council on European Negotiations.  As you are aware, while I was the President of the United Kingdom Overseas Territories Association (UKOTA) last year, I led efforts to secure this important meeting which was agreed last November at the annual JMC.  It was essential that at political level the OTs views were heard ahead of the UK Government triggering Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty to formally begin negotiations on Britain’s exit from the EU. 

Thirty-two persons are now British citizens after having been previously naturalised as British Overseas Territories citizens.

Premier and Minister of Finance, Dr. the Honourable D. Orlando Smith, OBE will lead a delegation to London to attend the United Kingdom Overseas Territories (UK-OT) Joint Ministerial Council on European Union (EU) Negotiations and other meetings from February 6 - 10.

All nurses, midwives and nursing assistants who are practicing in the Territory, are notified that they are to be registered and licenced for the 2017 calendar year in order to continue practicing legally.

The public is hereby reminded of the legislation guiding Public Access and Rights of Way to Beaches as per the Planning Act 2004.

Deputy Governor Mrs. Rosalie Adams is inviting all public officers to attend the 2^nd Annual Territorial Interdenominational Service of Thanksgiving and Intercession, to pray for the leaders and people of the Territory.

The public is advised that the north shore beaches are red flagged and closed from Tuesday, January 10 until further notice due to ground swell activity.
