The Department of Agriculture and Fisheries is preparing to host a community conversation on regenerative agriculture.

Madame Speaker, agriculture and fisheries remain a high priority on the Government’s agenda, and I wish to provide an update on current matters.

Junior Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries Honourable Dr. Karl Dawson is inviting all farmers to a general meeting on Monday, August 28 at 5:00 p.m. at the Elmore Stoutt High School tent.

The Department of Agriculture and Fisheries facilitated a round of meetings with fishers throughout the Territory as part of the Darwin Plus Funded Project, “Capacity Building in Fisheries Evidence, Networks and Management in the Virgin Islands”, September 26^th - 29^th.

Collaborating with regional and international partners, improving data collection, making data-driven investments, and implementing structured farm programmes are just a few keys to improving the agricultural sector.

Commercial fishers and the public are notified that the Conch (Strombus gigas) and Whelk (Cittarium pica) fishing season will be closed on August 15 in accordance with the Fisheries Regulations, 2003.
