An agricultural production survey has been launched to better understand the types and quantities of agricultural produce grown in the Territory. 

The public is being informed that the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries is experiencing an interruption in the telephone and internet service. 

The Department of Agriculture and Fisheries’ School Garden initiative is the recipient of an irrigation system including an irrigation hose, fittings, emitters and seedlings including, okra, kale, lemon basil, season and bell peppers courtesy of the Fort Garden Centre and Plant Wise VI.

A highlight of ‘Farmers and Fishers Week 2021’ was the dedication of a brand new tractor for the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries.

 A new public pound created as a response to the growing number of roaming livestock across the Territory was officially opened last week.

The Fort Garden Centre and Plant Wise VI have contributed to the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries’ School Garden Initiative.

The public is notified that a ceremony will be held at Paraquita Bay on Friday, April 30 for the opening of the public animal pound, the dedication of the new tractor and animal trailers, as well as a dessert competition. 

The public is invited to a grand Farmers’ and Fishers’ Exhibition and Market day on the grounds of the Department of Agriculture at Paraquita Bay on Saturday, May 1 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

In April 2020, I stood in this honourable House and informed the people of these Virgin Islands about the economic stimulus for fishers and farmers in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
