Fellow Virgin Islanders and Residents, A pleasant good day to each and every one of you. It is my pleasure as the Minister responsible for Transportation, Works and Utilities, to provide this update on the progress made by your government on the journey towards restoring the Central Administration Complex following the extensive damage caused by Hurricanes Irma and Maria in 2017.

My people of the Virgin Islands Good day and God’s blessings to you. You would recall that approximately two weeks ago I led a delegation to London to discuss with the United Kingdom Government, its offer of a Loan Guarantee for Recovery and Development projects in response to the damage arising from Hurricanes Irma and Maria in 2017. Please note that the discussions were not about a loan, but rather about the conditions around the loan guarantee.

Good day and God’s blessings
As I speak, our top level BVI athletes are in Doha, Qatar, to compete in the 2019 International Association of Athletic Federation’s World Championships. Our athletes are having a stellar athletic season, and we send them all our support as they again GO FOR THE GOLD!
I never thought such a valuable experience could be had with the enabler being a disaster. As a professional but more critically, as a man who loves this Territory, I was moved by the visible love for the BVI expressed through a caring and attentive community; even through the uncertainty of the past storms. We still have an active hurricane season and we must all Be Ready and Stay Ready.
