Greetings Fellow Virgin Islanders,

Tonight I address you on the unfortunate vehicular accident that occurred this evening at Hodges Creek, resulting in injuries to at least one individual. Reports indicate that a vehicle traveling at high speed veered off the road, narrowly missing road workers who were preparing for casting work.

This incident underscores the critical importance of safe driving practices, particularly in areas where construction and maintenance activities are ongoing. I urge all motorists to exercise caution, adhere to speed limits, and remain vigilant to ensure the safety of our road workers and fellow road users. The safety of our community must remain our top priority.

As we continue vital road improvement projects across the Territory, I extend my gratitude to our dedicated workers who labour tirelessly—often in challenging conditions—to enhance our infrastructure. I am thankful that no lives were lost in this incident and commend their commitment to safety.

I also want to extend my heartfelt wishes for a swift recovery to those injured and express my appreciation for the prompt response of our police and emergency services.

Let us all commit to responsible driving to prevent such incidents in the future. Stay informed about ongoing roadworks through updates on the Government’s social media platforms, and together, let us prioritise safety on our roads.

Thank you.
