The Virgin Islands became the first Caribbean Territory and a leader amongst small island states globally in establishing the policy and financing framework needed to address the causes and impacts of climate change.
Collection of waste in residential areas in Anegada, will now be done on Monday, Wednesday and Friday of every week.
According to the Department of Waste Management, residents who wish to have their trash collected are required to place it on the street directly outside their homes by 7:30 a.m. on Monday’s, Wednesday’s and Friday’s in time for 8:00 a.m. pick up.
Over 4,200 persons from the public and private sector participated in this year’s national tsunami exercise, Caribe Wave Lantex 15.
This year’s scenario was based on a magnitude 8.5 earthquake occurring north of Panama. The exercise commenced at 10:05 am on March 25 and concluded just after midday with participation of persons on Anegda, Jost Van Dyke, Tortola and Virgin Gorda. The exercise was designed to allow for testing of the national emergency broadcast and alert system and to evaluate the newly revised tsunami protocols which provide guidance to the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force and the Department of Disaster Management in handling response operations for this type of hazard impact.

15 players from the British Virgin Islands Rugby Football Union are in Hong Kong to compete in the 14th annual Kowloon RugbyFest 2015, also known as the Kowloon 10s.

His Excellency the Governor, Mr. John S. Duncan, OBE, is away from the Territory attending the annual meeting of Overseas Territories’ Governors in Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands.
