The Office of the City Manager will soon open the doors of the Old Her Majesty’s Prison Museum. Final preparations are progressing and the decision has been made to have prisoners from Her Majesty’s Prison contribute several crafts and merchandise to the museum.
Residents of the Adina Donovan Home for the Elderly were presented with three wheelchairs, donated by international law firm Harneys. Chief Operating Officer at Harneys, Felice Swapp stated that it was important that support be given to the elderly and pledged that her form will continue to do its part towards improving the quality of life for the residents.
On Friday, May 22, several Anegadians received contracts to execute road improvement works on their home island. Works will begin from the Saltheap Point at the Beach Cottages to Cow Wreck Beach Bar & Grill and will be supervised by five project managers from Anegada.
Following the preliminary round, ten schools have advanced to the Spanish Bowl Finals set for Wednesday, May 20 at 5:30 p.m. at the Sir Rupert Briercliffe Hall.
Local elementary and secondary students won several prizes from the popular radio show on ZBVI 780 AM, "Morning Devotion" Quiz competition as part of activities to observe Earth Day on Wednesday, April 22.
Road works in Palestina Estate/Pleasant Valley are 95 percent complete. Completed works per contract included raising the concrete bridge abutments and construction of a new bridge deck at a higher elevation. A new culvert was also constructed along the Palestina road and a section of the Drakes Highway back to the existing sea outfall near Nanny Cay.
Drainage works at Parham Town under the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) contract is 100 percent complete. Additional works are continuing to support the existing drainage system in ensuring that it functions at maximum capacity.
The Ministry of Communications and Works continues to carry out its mandate of ensuring the safety of the motoring and pedestrian public and improving the quality of the Territory’s roads and has commenced road works on Virgin Gorda.
