Minister for Transportation, Works and Utilities, Honourable Kye M. Rymer said the commissioning of the six (6) electric shuttles for the City of Road Town Park and Ride Shuttle Service is just one component of a comprehensive initiative to improve the city.

Honourable Rymer said, “This project will provide essential transportation services within the Road Town community and the implementation of the service aims to achieve the following objectives:

  1. Alleviate the parking lot congestion;
  2. Reduce traffic congestion;
  3. Reduce the effects of harmful emissions, in-turn reducing our carbon foot-print;
  4. Reduce parking on roadways (that cause traffic obstructions)
  5. Aid in pedestrianising the city
  6. Improve mobility within the city limits

The fleet of shuttles include four (4) open hop on hop off shuttles and two (2) enclosed shuttles with doors and air conditioning. The electric shuttles come with 110-volt power connectivity; 12 Trojan 105 batteries; passenger capacity of 15; 25 miles per hour (mph) speed limit; and 50 driving miles once fully charged. The total cost of the six shuttles was $178,000."

The City of Road Town, Park and Ride Shuttle Service is available from The Ralph T. O’Neal Administration Complex East Parking Lot to any of the 22 stops in the city, Monday to Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.  Meanwhile free parking will remain available at the Festival Grounds and the parking lot across from the Dr. D Orlando Smith Hospital.
