Premier and Minister of Finance Honourable Andrew A. Fahie said: “During the 2020 Budget Address delivered on 19 November 2019 under the theme: Transformation for Resilience and Sustainability, your Government stated clearly that one of its vision is to have the BVI 60% renewable energy by 2030.

Mr Speaker, over the past 16 months, as a Government, we have been committed to ‘Good Governance’ and I find it important to make this statement on renewable energy for Anegada.

I would first like to apologize for the length of my presentation this morning as the relevant subject matter is not only very important to the Territory, but as the old adage goes, in order to know where you are going you also need to know where you came from.
As Junior Minister for Tourism, I am pleased to be here this morning on behalf of Premier and Minister of Finance Honourable Andrew A. Fahie as we turn a new leaf in renewable energy in the Territory, specifically for the people and businesses on Anegada.
The Government of the Virgin Islands has extended the deadline for the submission of Expressions of Interest for the development of an Energy Transition Plan for the Territory to July 10.

A pleasant Good Day and God’s Blessings to all Virgin Islanders, residents and visitors.
You would recall that alternative energy was one of the key issues on which my team campaigned for the 2019 General Election. We promised that if you gave us the opportunity, we would make alternative energy not just a conversation but a commodity to households across our Territory.

Minister for Education, Culture, Youth Affairs, Fisheries and Agriculture, Dr. the Honourable Natalio D. Wheatley said the step that Government is making to offer technician training in solar energy will better the lives of future generations.
