​Mr. Speaker, I am pleased to provide a brief statement on the upcoming Farmers and Fishers’ Week planned for the week of 25th April to 1st May, 2021.  The Week will be celebrated under the theme “Restore, Increase, Sustain and Educate” or simply abbreviated as “RISE”. 

The Departmentof Agriculture and Fisheries has reported that a male humpback whale has been freed after getting caught in a net in the Sir Francis Drake’s Channel.

The public is notified that the naming of the Omar Wallace Hodge Fisherman's Wharf and Park has been postponed until further notice.

Director of Agriculture and Fisheries, Mr. Theodore E. James has said that his department was made aware of a video in circulation regarding the illegal capture of seven Green sea turtles which have since been rescued and released.

A Marketing Authority for the Virgin Islands’ agriculture and fisheries industry is being proposed as part of the Government’s legislative agenda for 2020.

The Government of the Virgin Islands has partnered with the UK Government for Sustainable Fisheries Management in the Virgin Islands with the launch of a new £317,000 project.

The public can now access fresh local seafood from fisher folk throughout the Territory. 

The Department of Agriculture and Fisheries has announced that local fishers are now offering fresh seafood for delivery.
