The Ministry of Health and Social Development will be hosting a “Breathe in Breathe Out” workshop next week to present the latest update for the current global treatment guidelines for asthma in adults.

Minister for Health and Social Development Honourable Carvin Malone is issuing a challenge to residents to adopt 21 days of healthier behavior during Diabetes Awareness Month.

I extend greetings to everyone at home and abroad. According to the World Health Organization, chronic diseases continue to be on the incline globally. It is expected to surge from 46 percent of the world’s population to 57 percent by 2020. Almost half of the chronic disease-caused deaths are attributable to cardiovascular diseases, obesity and diabetes.

The Virgin Islands Alzheimer’s Association is a non-profit organization which aims to create awareness, encourage prevention of the disease and be the support system for families coping with loved ones suffering from the disease. 

The Ministry of Health and Social Development is partnering with Lifestyle Medicine Institute to assist with the prevention and reduction of non-communicable diseases and their risk factors.

The public is invited to a presentation forum on “Celebrating Survivors” as part of World Cancer Day 2019 on Wednesday February 6 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. in the Chapel of the New Peebles Hospital. 

Educators from public and private schools are invited to participate in a training workshop geared to deal with children who may have asthma attacks while at school.
