Warm greetings to everyone on the occasion of World Food Safety Day, which is celebrated every year on June 7th.
World Food Safety Day presents an opportunity to highlight the importance of being more conscious of what we eat - in order to prevent, detect, and manage foodborne illnesses, and achieve better health.

Though we may not welcome it, the Atlantic Hurricane Season is once again upon us. This means that as happens every year between the 1st of June and the 30th of November, we and the rest of the Caribbean are at an increased risk for storms and hurricanes.
Today, the 1st of June, marks the Atlantic Hurricane Season and for the seventh consecutive year, forecasters advise that this season will bring above average levels of storm activity to the region. We therefore must all play our part to be as prepared as possible.

Madam Speaker, large fires occurred at the dumpsite in Pockwood Pond on the evening of May 16th and on the morning of May 22nd, 2022, respectively. Fortunately, no one was injured nor were there any damages to public or private equipment on site. I am sadly aware, however, that smoke from the fires may have been a source of discomfort to residents on the western side of Tortola.
His Excellency, the Governor John J. Rankin, CMG, chaired the Meeting held at the Premier’s Conference Room on 11th May, 2022.
All Members were present.
