Established by UNESCO in 2001, World Science Day for Peace and Development is celebrated worldwide in November each year. It offers an opportunity to demonstrate to the wider public why science is relevant to our daily lives, and to draw attention to the ways in which science and technology can help to protect the environment and improve the quality of life for all.
The appropriate recognitions have already been made, so it should be sufficient to say, good morning to everyone. As Minister for Education and Culture I want to extend a warm Virgin Islands welcome to our guests from the Caribbean Examination Council (CXC), and also to my fellow Caribbean brothers and sisters that through the advances of technology are watching this presentation live, as it is being streamed by CXC.
Premier and Minister of Finance Dr. the Honourable D. Orlando Smith, OBE said he is pleased with the announcement by BVI Airways that its first BAe Avro RJ100 regional four engine jet, the Spirit of the Virgin Islands, will be arriving in the Territory at the end of this week for customary and usual flight demonstration and ground personnel training.
The Premier of the Virgin Islands is today urging the UK Government to ensure the BVI – and other Overseas Territories – have high-level engagement in the Brexit negotiations.

We refer to reports in online media that the Financial Services Commission has concerns in respect to the survivability of the National Bank of the Virgin Islands.
I was surprised to see an article in BVI Platinum calling for the Premier to come clean, following a discussion with the Governor on 25th October, during which he stated that there were documents under discussion by cabinet that had not yet been released.
