The more than 5,000 subscribers of the Virgin Islands Official Gazette can now access the Government’s weekly periodical via Twitter by following the Twitter handle: @VIGazette.
The Cabinet Office has taken this step to expand the reach and accessibility of the Gazette as part of the Public Service Transformation initiative. According to the Cabinet Secretary, Ms. Sandra Ward, the Cabinet Office wants to strengthen its connection with its local, regional and international customers, while generating traffic to the Gazette’s website.
The Cabinet Secretary also added that it is the aim of the Cabinet Office to communicate more effectively through the use of social media and increase customer satisfaction with better customer service.
The aim of the Twitter account is to inform the public about the enactment of legislations and the publication of important notices, including governmental appointments and statutory instruments. Additionally, persons will now be able to receive weekly Gazette alerts when a new Gazette issue is uploaded to the website, https://eservices.gov.vg/gazette/.
The Gazette is the official newspaper of the Government of the Virgin Islands, which is published regularly on Thursdays. Extraordinary issues of the Gazette are also published when necessary. The Gazette is made up of Government, Statutory, Liquidation and Other Notices. Documents such as Bills, Acts, and other official documents are also circulated with the Gazette.
