Pictured third from left is grandson of World War I veteran, BVIslander Mr. James Rymer, as he and his relatives paid a courtesy call on Premier Smith on March 9. Mr. Rymer, who shares the same name with his grandfather, was honoured along with his family by the Premier during the BVI London Office Annual Premier’s Reception in 2014 when the UK celebrated the 100th anniversary of World War I. He was also honoured during the Remembrance Day ceremony in the BVI in 2014.

Mr. Rymer and his relatives will meet with Minister for Education and Culture, Honourable Myron Walwyn and education officials as they seek to establish a charitable trust in honour of their late grandfather. This trust will provide scholarships and grants to BVIslanders. 

Mr. Rymer will also visit members of his extended family and will meet with head of the Archives Unit, Mr. Christopher Varlack with the aim of tracing his genealogy. Photo Credit: GIS/Berta Mckelly
