The Government of the Virgin Islands announces an opportunity for qualified legal professionals to apply for the temporary position of Pro Tem Chairperson at the Labour Arbitration Tribunal. Established under the Labour Code 2010, the Tribunal serves as an independent entity dedicated to resolving labour disputes with fairness and impartiality, safeguarding the rights of both employees and employers.

The Pro Tem Chairperson will oversee and manage specific disputes, ensuring the proceedings adhere to legal standards and principles of justice. Responsibilities include issuing witness summonses, rendering clear and timely decisions, and drafting necessary orders and awards. The role requires a minimum of 10 years of legal experience and a valid practicing certificate under the Legal Profession Act.

The position offers a three-month term with compensation set at $2,500 monthly. Interested applicants are encouraged to submit a cover letter and curriculum vitae/resume by July 19, 2024, to the Ministry of Financial Services, Labour, and Trade. Applications will undergo vetting to ensure there are no conflicts of interest.
