The vision of the Government of the Virgin Islands is to develop leaders in excellence and innovation, who will contribute to the development of the Virgin Islands to the benefit of present and future generations. This is achieved by providing scholarships through the Ministry of Education's Scholarship Programme, ensuring eligible Virgin Islanders can access further educational opportunities to facilitate the workforce needs of the territory.
The Scholarship Committee
The Virgin Islands Scholarship Committee is vital to the process of awarding scholarships and is responsible for screening, interviewing, and recommending suitable applicants for the receipt of scholarship awards.
The Government, through the Ministry of Education, Youth Affairs and Sports, is seeking qualified persons to fill the following positions:
- Five (5) members from within the Virgin Islands
Committee Members
Persons applying to serve on the Virgin Islands Scholarship Committee should have professional competence that exemplifies integrity, respect, and a balance of skills and experience that match the purpose and values of the Committee.
Ideal candidates should embody/fulfil the following:
- Possess a keen desire to advance the strategic development of the territory;
- Possess strong leadership skills;
- Be willing to make a professional commitment to the Committee in carrying out its mission;
- Be capable and willing to attend scheduled meetings punctually, and actively contribute to discussions;
- Demonstrate the ability and willingness to work effectively and collaboratively with all stakeholders;
- Possess strong analytical skills;
- Provide guidance to applicants as needed;
- Possess a high level of confidentiality.
