The public is urged to prepare and consume food safely this holiday season.

Allow one pound of turkey per person.

Purchase turkey two to four days before you cook it.

Keep turkey stored in the freezer/refrigerator until you are ready to prepare.

Place it in a container to catch juices that may leak.
How to defrost your frozen turkey/chicken:
• Remove frozen food from freezer and put at bottom of fridge.
• Defrost frozen turkey in the refrigerator/chiller/cooler.
• Run water over the turkey. Do not soak in water to defrost.
