STATEMENT BY MINISTER FOR COMMUNICATIONS AND WORKS
HONOURABLE KYE M. RYMER
ON THE ANEGADA AIRPORT REOPENING AND FIRE AND RESCUE SERVICES
5th December, 2023
Greetings to the dear sister islanders of Anegada.
As Minister for Communications and Works with the responsibility for airports and fire and rescue services, I take this opportunity to announce that the stationed fire truck has been returned to Anegada, which has resulted in the reopening of the Auguste George Airport. Your safety and well-being have been our top priorities throughout this process.
I want to acknowledge the inconvenience that our residents on the sister island of Anegada have faced due to the unintentional delay. Please accept our sincere apologies for any disruption caused. I understand the challenges this has presented, and I want to assure you that every effort has been made to expedite the delivery to minimise further inconvenience.
It is of utmost importance to emphasise that, despite the delay, the safety of our residents was never compromised. Immediate measures were taken to prioritise medical assistance and evacuation for our fellow Anegadians if required.
Your understanding and patience during this transitional period in our services have not gone unnoticed and I extend my heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you for your resilience and cooperation.
As we work together to restore normalcy, please know that your concerns are our concerns, and we are committed to addressing them promptly. Thank you for your unwavering patience, understanding, and solidarity.
