Press Release
Twenty-five (25) senior leaders across the public sector sharpened their project management skills following a recent two-day workshop.
The workshop was hosted by the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB), in partnership with the Government of the Virgin Islands through the Ministry of Finance and the Department of Human Resources.
The officers were provided information on the CDB’s Public Policy Analysis and its Management and Project Cycle Management courses in the form of round table discussions. A training component was also organised for the senior public officers within different key leadership positions that dealt with procurement, project management, public policy and monitoring and evaluation.
The workshop was facilitated by Consultant Coordinator for the Training Unit of the Technical Cooperation Division of the CDB, Mr. Reginald Graham, and Ms. Christine Scott of MindBloom Consulting. The consultants led a series of discussions with key stakeholders within both the public service and the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College (HLSCC).
The purpose of the CDB’s mission to the BVI was to receive endorsement for the programme’s implementation, and identify specific capacity building needs. It also served to discuss and receive feedback on the programme’s monitoring and evaluation framework.
The mission identified the lead coordination group members who will manage the implementation of the training programme later this year, and explored suitable sites for the core training sessions to commence in October 2018. Programme data collection and the analysis and mechanics for ensuring the programme sustainability were also explored.
The training will continue with both online and face-to-face sessions from October 8 to November 19.
The Department of Human Resources remains committed to building the capacity of the public service by facilitating opportunities for growth locally, regionally and internationally.
