Riders of motorbikes and scooters are prohibited from using the Territory’s roads between the hours of 5:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. for a period of three weeks.

The Road Traffic (Restriction of use of Motor Cycle) Regulations, 2020 was enacted today, June 4 in accordance with the Road Traffic Act, (CAP. 218), Section 56 which restricts the movement of three-wheel or less vehicles, which includes motorbikes and scooters.

Premier of the Virgin islands, Honourable Andrew A. Fahie, on the matter of the motorbikes regulation said in his statement on Wednesday, June 3, “We want to ensure the safety of bikers”, indicating Government’s concern for the safety of the Territory’s residents.

Riders of these types of vehicles are to continue to adhere to the existing traffic and safety regulations for operating on the public roads while adhering to the new restrictions. Failure to do so is an offence and violators will be fined three thousand dollars if convicted.

The Road Traffic (Restriction of use of Motor Cycle) Regulations, 2020 was enacted today, June 4 for a limited period until June 25.
