Ciboney Centre for Excellence and Claudia Creque Educational Centre will debate the moot, “The reopening of the Virgin Islands borders would lead to greater economic disruptions,” while Elmore Stoutt High School and Bregado Flax Educational Centre will debate the moot, “The economic and social consequences of lockdown (stay-at-home) orders could cause more harm than the COVID-19 virus.”

The semifinals are slated for Wednesday, February 17.

“The two are very topical issues that are happening right now,” Co-Curricular Education Officer, Mrs. Heida Selwood said, adding, “So we look forward to the debates to hear what they all have to say.”

The debates will be streamed live on Facebook @BVIGovernment. Residents are urged to support the students, as they debate the current issues existing in the Virgin Island’s community. The finals will be held on Wednesday, March 10.
