The Social Development Department is inviting the Virgin Islands community to support the upcoming activities in observance of Child Abuse Prevention and Autism Awareness Month.

  • Friday, April 1, the Awareness March will take place from the Althea Scatliffe Primary School at 10:00 a.m. Persons interested in taking part in the march are asked to wear blue or white tops and to assemble at the school grounds at 9:30 a.m. The march will proceed to the Noel Lloyd Positive Action Movement Park followed by the Light it up Blue Fun Day. The Fun Day includes face painting, a bouncy castle, games, lucky dip, music and more.
  • Saturday, April 2, the World Autism Awareness Day Walk sponsored by Sol Petroleum will take place from the Central Administration Complex. Persons interested in taking part are asked to register by 5:15 a.m. The Walk will proceed to ZBVI radio station and back to the Complex. Registration fee is $10 and proceeds will go towards the Autism Programme.
  • The public is also invited to shine a blue light on the nights of April 1 and 2 in observance of World Autism Awareness Day.  Burhym Electrical opposite Bobby’s Supermarket and Drake’s Traders in Fish Bay are offering 20 percent off on blue bulbs up until April 2.
