Press Release
The BVI Health Services Authority announces the continued operations of Peebles Hospital during the passage of Hurricane Irma.
However to ensure the safety of both patients and staff during this period, certain medical services have been postponed, specifically elective surgeries, until after the passage of the Hurricane. The Emergency Department remains opened for treatment of persons requiring urgent emergency care. Similarly, our Dialysis and Antenatal patients are reminded, as advised, to stay on Tortola during the hurricane in case of a personal-emergency.
Routine visiting hours at Peebles Hospital will be suspended from 4:00 p.m. today and during the passage of the Hurricane to ensure the safety of all persons.
Finally, the Community Clinics or Health Centres will be closed from 12:00 noon today, Tuesday, September 5 until an assessment is done on the condition of each Clinic facility, which will be made on Thursday following the passage of Hurricane Irma. However the Iris O’Neal Clinic will remain opened until 8:00 p.m. this evening to deal with any emergency need that arises before the Hurricane.
In the event of an emergency, please call 911 or 852-7500 or 394-3497.
A further Press Release will be issued to announce the re-openings of the Community Clinics and resumption of routine visiting hours at Peebles Hospital. We are urging all persons to secure themselves and families and to continue to monitor and adhere to the announcements from the Department of Disaster Management.
