The public is invited to participate in the Department of Culture’s Virgin Islands Proverbs and Poems Poetry competition.

The age categories are 9 to 12, 13 to 17 and 18 and older. Poems should have 20 lines minimum and should use any of the following writing prompts:

-“De remedy to fall is ‘get up’”

-“What doan kill will fatten!”

-“Watta boilin’ an’ fish doan know”

Submissions should be sent to viculture@gov.vg by the deadline Friday, September 24.

Prizes will be awarded to the first-place winner in each category by the Minister for Education, Culture, Youth Affairs, Fisheries and Agriculture, Dr. the Honourable Natalio D. Wheatley.
