The Ministry of Education and Culture is encouraging all interested persons to apply for scholarships to pursue studies abroad by Friday, October 30.

In an invited comment, the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Marcia Potter said, “Every year we encourage persons to not only apply for what is really an excellent educational opportunity, but to also apply on time. This allows for the timely processing of applications so that persons can receive responses within a reasonable time.”

Dr. Potter said that preference will be given to persons with special interest in Tourism, Teacher Education, Engineering, Financial Services, Marine Studies, Environmental Health, Agriculture, Health Services and areas in the technical field.

Specifically, as it relates to health services, applicants considering Nursing with Midwifery, Health Informatics, Medical Records Administration, Health Planning, Radiography with Certification in MRI, CAT Scans and Ultra Sonography, Pharmacy and Public Health Nursing will be given preference.

Interested persons may collect the application form from the Ministry of Education and Culture located on the second floor of the East Wing of the Central Administration Building between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday.

Completed application forms with accompanying documents must be submitted by the October 30 deadline for consideration for the 2016-2017 academic year.

 The Virgin Islands Scholarship Programme is open to all Virgin Islanders. The programme is in line with the Government of the Virgin Islands’ commitment to ensure all citizens, from early years to adulthood, must be able to reach their full potential, to be successful in life, at work and in the Community.
