Deputy Premier and Minister for Communications and Works, Honourable Kye M. Rymer has said that the residents of Frenchman’s Cay now have a first class bridge following the completion of the project.

Honourable Rymer said work commenced on the project in March 2022 and included the installation for temporary access to Frenchman’s Cay during the course of works, controlled demolition of the old bridge structure, shoring of the exposed shoreline with installation of rock revetment and the construction of the bridge.

At a ribbon cutting ceremony last week to officially open the bridge, Honourable Rymer thanked residents for their patience while the project was underway. He also commended the contractors Quality Construction for their work on the bridge.

Premier and Minister of Finance, Dr. the Honourable Natalio D. Wheatley was also on hand to witness the opening of the bridge and added that the National Unity Government will be pushing forward with the West End Ferry Terminal and that the public will be given an opportunity to weigh in on the designs.

Premier said, “Works are continuing in the best interest of the people of this area and also the people of the entire Virgin Islands, and I certainly want to say as Minister of Finance and Premier, I will do my part to push forward the work that we are doing to improve our infrastructure and provide relief and a better standard of living for the people of the Virgin Islands.”

The Ministry of Communications and Works is dedicated to ensuring the continued development and maintenance of public infrastructure in keeping with international standards so that public utilities are reliable and affordable in support of an enhanced community life for every resident and visitor in the Virgin Islands.
