The Virgin Islands (VI) is set to make a strong impression at Seatrade Cruise Global 2024.

Minister for Communications and Works, Honourable Kye M. Rymer will lead a delegation to the event which from April 8 to 11 said to be the world's leading annual gathering for the cruise industry. The event attracts top executives, stakeholders, and influential figures from around the globe to Miami Florida.

 The VI delegation, will include representatives from the BVI Ports Authority, the BVI Tourist Board and private sector partners and will focus on strengthening existing relationships with cruise partners and forging new collaborations within the worldwide cruise market.

Honourable Rymer emphasised the importance of the VI's presence at Seatrade Cruise Global stating, "Our participation in this event demonstrates the VI's unwavering commitment to building and maintaining long-term partnerships within the cruise industry, driving mutual growth and success.”

The Minister further highlighted the VI's success with a record-breaking increase of over 90,000 passengers in the first quarter of 2024 when compared to the same period last year.  

Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Communications and Works, Mrs. Elvia Smith-Maduro, who is also part of the delegation, highlighted the VI's representation at a Caribbean Spotlight Session.

Mrs. Smith-Maduro said, “This session will delve into the region's tourism landscape and showcase the BVI's role in promoting sustainable tourism development”.

The VI delegation will engage in a variety of activities throughout Seatrade Cruise Global, including networking with industry leaders, attending educational workshops and sessions, and exhibiting the unique allure of the Virgin Islands as a premier cruise destination.  The Territory also aims to solidify its position in the global cruise market, while also exploring new opportunities and partnerships that will foster growth and sustainability for the Virgin Islands.
