Statement
REPRESENTATIVE FOR THE SIXTH DISTRICT
HONOURABLE ALVERA MADURO-CAINES
CHRISTMAS MESSAGE 2020
SHINING THE LIGHT OF BVILOVE FOR A BRIGHTER AND HAPPIER HOLIDAY SEASON
All praise and thanks are unto God for His blessings, His favour, His grace, and His love.
For here, we all are, yet again, to celebrate the advent season. The season where God sent His only begotten son Jesus on this earth to teach us in the ways Lord and to remind us of two commandments: Love the Lord Our God with all our hearts, soul, and mind and to love our neighbours and we do ourselves.
It is for these two reasons that I am happy to say Season’s Greetings to the people of the Sixth District.
I say Season’s Greetings to everyone in the Virgin Islands and to all Virgin Islanders who are living abroad.
I want to encourage all of us to continue to remain safe in this COVID-19 era.
Our ancestors have gotten through some vile things before.
Our parents have gotten through challenges before.
And, we will get through every trial that comes our way in the present because I firmly believe that a threat to the Virgin Islands, this praying country, is frowned upon by our God who gives us all strength.
This year we have lost loved ones in different ways, and I express condolences to all the bereaved families who will, for the first time, celebrate Christmas and the New Year without family members.
Please take comfort in the good memories they have left behind.
We have had a few senseless deaths that have rocked our core.
But, we believe in God for justice, and we pray that God will give persons the courage to turn themselves in because, as a people, we step up, and we own up.
We have Faith that it will happen because God, who sees it all, will reveal it all. All things are possible if we only believe. For God is not the author of confusion, but rather the author of peace, love, and goodwill to men.
So as we continue to move forward, I want to encourage all of us to continue to draw on each other's strengths, and where there are weaknesses, we will help each other, because this is who we are and have always been as a people.
So, once again, I say Season’s Greetings. Remember to stay safe and to stay with God who is able to keep us and to sustain us as we go forward.
I thank you.
