A search is underway for Mr. Wilking Sanchez Tejeda of the Dominican Republic who escaped detention on Sunday, July 4.

The Chief Immigration Officer, Mr. Ian Penn explained that Mr. Sanchez Tejeda, an immigrant who was detained, escaped with help from an unknown person.

This incident occurred at Castle Maria Hotel where the security officer on duty was attacked.

According to Mr. Penn, the matter was immediately reported to the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) and a full investigation on the specific circumstances of the escape is ongoing.
