Press Release
The Government of the Virgin Islands is taking steps to implement a more modern version of its accounting system JD Edwards.
This initiative will be executed by migrating the JD Edwards World Platform to JD Edwards Enterprise One.
JD Edwards software, is an accounting programme which provides a flexible foundation for the Government’s financial operations which streamlines processes and enables users to respond quickly to change. The software also provides assistance for organisation, maintenance, recording, and analysation of financial information.
A full backup of the current JDE system is scheduled for Saturday, September 14. Meanwhile, cashiers of revenue collecting agencies can continue operating the current Point of Sale, (POS) system from Sunday, September 15 to Sunday, September 22. The revenue is to be imported daily as customary, but should not be posted into JDE for the period mentioned.
Financial Secretary, Mr. Glenroy Forbes said, “Once the migration of the old system is completed, users will immediately see improved features such as, a new look and feel using a menu driven interface, a new Point of Sale (POS) system and new reporting capabilities.”
Users of JDE are further advised that although the JDE World system will be available for inquiries, they will not be able to enter new transactions during this period. Users are encouraged to plan ahead and process any necessary Purchase Orders and payments, so that the business operation is not adversely affected during the week of the System Freeze.
Mr. Forbes further added, “As of Monday, September 23, Government operations will be running live on the new JDE platform. As the system is taken through this transition, if anyone experiences any issue using the new JDE Enterprise One system, please contact extension 4242, and report your findings, as there will be a support team in place, to address your concerns.”
The Government of the Virgin Islands requests the cooperation of the users of the accounting system during this transition period
