The Environmental Health Division is intensifying efforts to eradicate adult mosquitoes in hotspot areas.  As a result, a number of ground surveillance activities and targeted fogging will take place beginning today, January 15 in the following areas.

Long Bush

Main Street

Huntum’s Ghut

Road Town

Purcell and Estate

Sabbath and Fahie Hills

Butu Mountain

Belle Vue

Greenland

Sea Cow’s Bay

Fogging is done between 5:30 - 8:00 p.m. Persons with respiratory illnesses, particularly asthmatics, should leave the areas being fogged for at least an hour.

Residents are reminded that fogging will provide only temporary relief from the mosquitoes. Householders and property owners must, therefore, be vigilant in preventing mosquitoes from breeding in stagnant water around their homes and businesses. Self-inspections should be done weekly.

For further information on how to control the Aedes aegypti mosquito, telephone the Vector Control Unit of the Environmental Health Division at 852-7782
