A monthly electronic newsletter has been launched to showcase news and events on the Sister Islands.

The Sister Islands Newsletter was created by the Sister Islands Unit under the Office of the Deputy Governor.

 “We believe that this initiative will continue to bridge the gap between the sister islands,” Sister Islands Coordinator Ms. Sasha Flax said. She added, “It will act as a vehicle for advertising events and activities hosted by the Government of the Virgin Islands and highlight persons from the Sister Islands that continue to make significant contributions to the territory.”

Permanent Secretary in the Deputy Governor’s Office Mrs. Carolyn Stout-Igwe commended Ms. Flax on the initiative and added that she is looking forward to future issues highlighting the people and activities on the islands.

The first issue of the newsletter is focusing on Disaster Preparedness, as June signifies the beginning of the hurricane season. This month’s issue highlights a variety of safety tips and different events taking place throughout the month for all the sister islands.

The Sister Islands Newsletter will be issued monthly. Each month will showcase a different theme, feature a Sister Islander of the month, and share green tips to save money and the environment.
