The Ministry of Education, Youth Affairs and Sports concluded its Education Month 2025 following the hosting of several activities in schools and communities across the Virgin Islands.
The month of activities were observed under the theme, “Innovate. Inspire. Transform. A Reimagined Education for All” and saw the coming together of the Virgin Islands to celebrate learning, leadership, and innovation.
Key Highlights Included:
- Principal’s Leadership Conference (4–5 March): School leaders explored bold strategies to improve educational outcomes and drive systemic change.
- Teach for a Day (Tuesdays in March): Professionals from various sectors stepped into classrooms across the Territory to share real-world insights and inspire the next generation.
- Made by Dyslexia Workshops (6–7 March): Educators participated in targeted training to better support students with dyslexia.
- Inter-Secondary School Debate Finals (12 March): Student debaters demonstrated critical thinking, eloquence, and intellectual courage.
- National Science & Innovation Fair (13–14 March): Students showcased creative, future-focused projects in science, technology, engineering, and the arts.
- National Youth Symposium (17 March): Young voices took the spotlight to discuss mental health issues and youth empowerment.
- Pre-primary Book Parade: Held on March 18 in Tortola, March 21 in Anegada, and March 24 in Virgin Gorda, this colourful celebration brought beloved storybook characters to life as young learners paraded in costume and embraced the joy of reading.
- Recognition Ceremony for Secondary Teacher Certificate Candidates (20 March): Successful candidates were honoured for their commitment to professional growth and excellence in teaching.
- Appreciation Ceremony for Private Sector Partners (24 March): The Ministry recognized valued partners whose continued support enhances educational opportunities across the Territory.
- Inter-Primary School Athletic Championships (26 & 28 March): Primary schools competed in exciting athletic events, with Francis Lettsome Primary emerging victorious.
The ministry extends thanks to all educators, students, parents, sponsors, and community partners for making Education Month 2025 a resounding success. The collective efforts demonstrated the Territory’s unwavering commitment to a reimagined education system grounded in equity, innovation, and excellence for all learners.
