The Department of Youth Affairs and Sports (DYAS) is creating a registry of all youth organisations in the Territory including any religious, service, sports, music, and dance groups that cater to youth ages 15 to 29.

Acting Director of DYAS, Mrs. Brenda Lettsome-Tye said the purpose of the registry is to understand the nature of existing youth groups and to foster collaboration where possible.

She said, “As part of the Virgin Islands Youth Policy, [DYAS] is poised to promote youth development through academics, sports, arts and other forms of recreation. We are certain that the activities of many youth organisationsare in line with those areas of focus and the aim of the registry is to document those activities and see how the department can assist same.”

“We are inviting leaders of all youth organisations to register with the department by Monday, October 31, 2016. It is important that we get this register completed as soon as possible so that we can carry out our mandate to promote youth development in the Virgin Islands,” said Mrs. Lettsome-Tye.

To register your organisation, please contact Mrs. Violet de Castro at the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports via telephone 468-4949.

The Ministry of Education and Culture is committed to ‘Creating a Culture of Excellence’.
